How can I use Twilio phone numbers to send and receive Global SMS?
Sending text messages
United States and Canada
All local Twilio phone numbers in the US and Canada allow you to send domestic and international SMS messages. However, you need to set your outbound permissions. See coverage and pricing to check if your country is supported. Toll free phone numbers are not able to send or receive SMS messages.
United Kingdom
With a local Twilio phone number in the UK, you can send domestic SMS messages to other phone numbers within the UK. Twilio’s UK phone numbers are geographic and some international phone networks do not recognize these as SMS-enabled. Messages sent from phone numbers outside the UK are not guaranteed to arrive. As a result, you cannot use a UK Twilio phone number to send messages internationally.
Rest of the world…
Twilio allows you to send SMS messages to the rest of the world from local US or Canadian phone numbers. You can send SMS messages to 150+ countries, over 1,000 global carrier networks, and billions of subscribers. Receiving text messages
United States and Canada
SMS messages sent to US and Canadian Twilio phone numbers from international phone numbers typically arrive without any issues. However, because it is the responsibility of the sending carrier to connect to our network, we do not guarantee delivery from all international carriers.
United Kingdom
Twilio’s UK phone numbers are geographic, and messages sent to these numbers by phone numbers outside the UK might not arrive. Messages sent from phone numbers outside the UK are not guaranteed to arrive. As a result, you cannot use a UK Twilio phone number to send messages internationally.
Other Twilio numbers
