Twilio Expands Enterprise Voice Offerings


Twilio (www.twilio.com), the software and cloud-based communications platform, today expanded its enterprise-grade voice offerings with a range of new features designed to further improve the quality of voice calls delivered via the cloud. Starting today, Twilio adds its innovative Global Low Latency (GLL) architecture to Twilio Client's WebRTC capabilities, in public beta. Twilio Client enables developers and businesses to integrate voice calling capabilities into browsers via WebRTC and mobile apps using the company's Android and iOS SDKs. GLL enhances Twilio Client and helps resolve one of the biggest issues impacting IP voice by significantly reducing audio latency. Also announced, Twilio adds enhancements to its conference recording functionality that enables enterprises to automatically capture and archive every voice interaction, making it easy to monitor calls for quality purposes, record calls for compliance reasons, or leverage recordings for staff training. Twilio Client brings Voice over IP calling to browser-based and mobile applications. By leveraging WebRTC, Twilio Client makes it easy to embed real-time communications into web apps, and connect those apps to legacy SIP and PSTN networks. Today's release extends GLL capability to all two-party PSTN and Client calls, ensuring that voice communications are intelligently routed through the nearest Twilio datacenter to deliver the best possible call quality.

Today's voice recording enhancements make it even easier for enterprises to record calls with a simple API. With Twilio, there's no limit to the number of calls that can be recorded or minutes that can be archived. Recordings can be stored in the cloud or on-premises. To get the most out of the data, recordings can be easily added to existing CRM solutions, call center solutions, or other business applications.

The Home Depot's Redbeacon, an online marketplace for home improvement professionals, connected browser-based voice calling (through WebRTC) to the PSTN with Twilio Client. This allowed them to build an end-to-end call center from scratch, with no legacy hardware.
