OpenVBX Contest: Extend and Improve

OpenVBX has a fantastic community of generous developers that have donated their time, code, and knowledge to help OpenVBX mature since its release. A new version (0.91) and an iPhone app were released just a week ago, but we don’t want to stop there. This week’s contest is all about making OpenVBX even better. Is there a feature that you wish OpenVBX had?

Code up an OpenVBX plugin and you could win $100 in Twilio credit, an Amazon Kindle 3G, and a very sweet Twilio track jacket. Not to mention scratching that itch of yours.

Entries must be submitted by 11:59pm PT on Sunday March 6th. Entries can be submitted here.

New to OpenVBX?

DSC_8618 OpenVBX is an open source project sponsored by Twilio, and this virtual PBX system is just a starting point for you to build your own customized business phone system.  We built OpenVBX and released it to the community to share our idea of what’s possible with Twilio, and inspired developers in the community to take it to the next level.

We like to think of OpenVBX as Google Voice for business, empowering you to purchase phone numbers, create an automated voice attendant to answer and route calls, and provide an information hot-line when your business is closed. You can go much further with this when you check out the code and modify it for your own purposes, or build plugins to extend its functionality.

What’s This Developer Contest All About?

Each week we announce a new category to encourage developers to try Twilio for different use cases, industries, and integrations.  As a language-agnostic platform for cloud communications, we want to see developers from all backgrounds find success and solve problems with Twilio.  To fire your imagination and reward your efforts, we’ve run this developer contest for over a year.

How To Get Involved

Submissions to the contest can be submitted here.  If you need any help or want to bounce ideas off other Twilio developers, please join us on our forums or drop a note to
