How to Send Twilio SMS Messages Using Python on Google App Engine

Alex Swan, one of the awesome developers in our community put up a great screencast that shows you how to send text messages using the Twilio SMS API in Python. It guides you through setting up your Google App Engine environment, and walks you through writing all the Python code to send a text message containing a random deep though from Jack Handey.

    Hi Alex!

Thanks – this is very helpful. But I am struggling in Java. The regular Twilio Helper library is not working on Google App Engine because of a javax.net.ssl.KeyManagerFactory exception the Twilio Helper library throws on Google App Engine.
And when I am posting authorized HTTP Requests to the Twilio REST Endpoint it keeps saying to me, that I am not authorized…

    Any ideas?

    Best,
    Martin

The problem is App engine is not allowing the underlying java client to do the post and it requires that the library use the URL fetch library so Twilio or somone else needs to create a new jar file that will work with the app engine.
Till then I would say it fair to say “Twilio does not support java google app engine”
