No one likes a troll, especially patent trolls. Phone2Action is making it easier for you to report patent trolls to your US Senator via text, just in time for the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

For those unfamiliar, patent trolls enforce patent rights to collect licensing fees, but don’t actually make products or offer services based on those patents. To the DOer who’s out building software solutions and serving customers, these trolls can be a huge legal hassle.

Attendees at this year’s International CES can help put a stop to patent trolls by texting “TROLLS” to 52886. Once an attendee texts in, Phone2Action fires an email to the attendee’s US Senator, registering their support for patent litigation reform which fights patent trolling. The campaign uses Phone2Action’s newly released social advocacy platform along with the Twilio SMS API and Google Civic Information API, to connect attendees to senators and spark legal change.

“The CEA’s mission is to support and help grow the consumer technology industry, “ says Michael Petricone, the CEA’s VP of Governmental Affairs. “Phone2Action technology helps CEA members connect directly with our elected officials, making it easy to advocate for changing these outdated and anti-competitive laws.”

Campaigns that use Phone2Action have access to an analytics platform that gives them real-time updates about what kind of actions their supporters are taking. “Tracking advocacy actions, such as patch-through calls, emails, and social media communications gives groups intelligence about how their campaigns are resonating with their supporters,” adds Patrick Stoddart, CTO and Co-founder of Phone2Action.

“People want to act, and our customers want real-time insights into what action alerts are resonating and where people are most likely to advocate for their causes. Phone2Action 2.0, officially released today, makes taking social action — and measuring those actions — easy, effective, and efficient, giving organizations a way to manage grassroots advocacy in today’s mobile world,” says Jeb Ory (pictured above), CEO and Co-founder of Phone2Action.

Phone2Action will hold a public launch event today at the International CES, and Co-founder Ximena Hartsock will speak on the panel “Innovation: Keeping America Open for Business” next to Penny Pritzker, the US Secretary of Commerce.
