# 11009: CNAM registration rejected: display name does not meet requirements

## Description

The display name you submitted does not meet one or more CNAM display name requirements.

### Possible causes

* Display name does not start with a letter.
* Display name contains characters that are not permitted (only letters, numbers, spaces, periods, or commas are allowed).
* Display name is too generic and does not accurately reflect the business (for example "City" or "State").
* Display name is already in use by another registration.

### Possible solutions

Update the display name to meet the following requirements:

* Must be 15 characters or fewer, start with a letter, and contain only letters, numbers, spaces, periods, or commas.
* Ensure the name is unique and accurately reflects your registered business, then resubmit for verification.
