# 30857: Verification rejection - URL issues in sample message

Log Type: APPLICATION

Log Level: ERROR

## Description

Your verification was rejected because the URL in your sample message doesn't meet messaging requirements. Phone numbers must be verified before they can send messages to the United States and Canada.

### Possible causes

* Your sample message includes a shared public URL shortener instead of a branded domain your business owns.
* Your sample message includes a non-secure URL.
* The URL in the message, or a redirect from that URL, conceals or obscures your business identity.
* The domain in the sample message doesn't align with the sender identified in the message.
* The website linked in the message doesn't clearly identify the business owner or doesn't include contact information such as a mailing address.

### Possible solutions

* Replace the URL in your sample message with a branded URL on a domain your business controls.
* Use a secure HTTPS URL in the sample message.
* Remove public URL shorteners from your sample message and from any redirects behind the submitted URL.
* Make sure the sender name in the message, the domain in the URL, and the landing page all identify the same business.
* Update the landing page so it clearly identifies your business and includes contact information.
* If you need shortened links, use Twilio Link Shortening with your own branded domain.
* Edit the rejected verification and resubmit it with an updated sample message.
