# 30875: Verification rejection - Disallowed: SHAFT - Alcohol

Log Type: APPLICATION

Log Level: ERROR

## Description

This error means your verification submission was rejected because the business or messaging program was identified as alcohol-related and the submission doesn't meet verification requirements. During review, Twilio evaluates the business that is sending the messages, the stated use case, sample messages, web presence, opt-in or consent flow, and related terms and privacy policy.

### Possible causes

* Your submission identifies the business, website, or messaging program as alcohol-related.
* Your website or opt-in flow doesn't use an acceptable age-verification process for alcohol-related messaging.
* Your age gate relies on a simple yes or no confirmation instead of collecting the user's full date of birth.
* Your website or landing page makes alcohol-related content available before the user passes the age gate.
* Your verification submission doesn't clearly show how your website, opt-in flow, and sample messages enforce age restrictions.
* You send, or plan to send, age-gated alcohol traffic to Canada without the required carrier exemption.

### Possible solutions

* Add a 21+ age gate to your website and opt-in flow before users can access alcohol-related content or enroll in messaging.
* Require users to enter their full date of birth in `MM/DD/YYYY` format, or use a third-party age-verification service.
* Remove any flow that exposes alcohol-related content before age verification is completed.
* Update your verification submission so it clearly documents the age gate, opt-in flow, consent collection, and sample messages.
* If you send messages to Canada, block age-gated alcohol traffic unless you have the required carrier exemption.
* If the rejection is eligible for resubmission, correct the issue and resubmit from the phone number's Regulatory Information section in Console.
