# 91302: Delivery throttled

Log Type: APPLICATION

Log Level: WARNING

## Description

Twilio records this error when Event Streams temporarily reduces event delivery throughput to a targeted sink. Throttling occurs when the destination endpoint enforces rate limits or returns a high volume of failure responses.

Throttling allows the target sink time to recover or operate within its capacity limits. Twilio automatically retries throttled events; no immediate action is required unless throttling is sustained.

### Possible causes

* The sink is repeatedly returning 429 or 5xx responses.
* The sink is experiencing slow response times, causing delivery backpressure.
* A sudden increase in event volume is exceeding the sink endpoint's capacity limits.

### Possible solutions

* Reduce processing overhead on your sink so it can return a fast 2xx response.
* Confirm that your sink is not configured to rate-limit Twilio's delivery requests.
* If throttling persists during volume spikes, evaluate your event subscription to ensure you are only streaming necessary event types to the sink.
* Increase the capacity or concurrency handling of the sink.
