## Data Destinations overview

Data Destinations delivers event data from across the entire Twilio platform through a single, asynchronous, near-real-time data pipeline. It lets you send your Twilio data to out-of-the-box business tools called *destinations*.

Once your event data is in your downstream business tools, you can detect delivery failures in real time, measure end-to-end messaging engagement, and maintain compliance records.

Data Destinations provides the following capabilities:

* **Unified stream**: Consolidate events from all supported Twilio products, including Messaging, TaskRouter, Voice, and more into a single data feed. Data Destinations provides granular control over the specific events delivered to your sink, ensuring you only receive the data that matters to your business.
* **Schema consistency**: Consume structured data from multiple Twilio products with consistent metadata and well-defined, versioned schemas, making it easier for your downstream systems to parse data.
* **Built-in reliability**: Data Destinations provide an [at-least-once delivery](/docs/events/event-delivery-and-duplication) guarantee and will queue or retry your events for up to four hours. Once Twilio delivers an event, you can use embedded timestamps to reconcile any duplicates or out-of-order events that occurred during retries.
* **Operational efficiency**: Reduce the load on your servers by moving away from the "one-producer-to-one-consumer" model. Stream the same event to multiple sinks simultaneously without writing extra code.

## Example use cases

Use destinations to pipe real-time Twilio event data into your operational, analytical, and marketing tools for use cases like:

* **Real-time health monitoring and anomaly detection**: Stream delivery receipts, carrier error codes, and failure events into [Datadog](/docs/data-destinations/destination/datadog). Once your delivery data is in Datadog, you can configure monitors and alert thresholds to catch carrier filtering spikes, regional outages, or sudden drop-offs in delivery rates.
* **Enterprise data warehousing and regulatory auditing**: Funnel raw, high-volume event logs directly into [Snowflake](/docs/data-destinations/destination/snowflake) to maintain an immutable, long-term record of all outbound and inbound touchpoints. Satisfy compliance and data residency requirements while joining communication logs with core business data for cost modeling and longitudinal analytics.
* **Product analytics and conversion funnels**: Pipe messaging events, such as two-factor authentication (2FA) delivery, notification sends, and verification confirmations, into [Amplitude](/docs/data-destinations/destination/amplitude). Map messaging touchpoints directly against in-app user behaviors to evaluate how communication timing influences onboarding completion, churn risk, and long-term retention.
* **Full-funnel campaign attribution**: Route outbound messaging and link-tracking events into [Google Analytics 4](/docs/data-destinations/destination/google-analytics-4). Attribute web traffic, sign-ups, and purchases back to specific SMS or WhatsApp campaigns to understand multi-touch marketing return on investment (ROI) and customer acquisition costs.
* **No-code operations and exception handling**: Send filtered events, such as undelivered priority alerts, customer opt-outs, or inbound responses—directly into an [Airtable](/docs/data-destinations/destination/airtable) base. Empower operations, support, and sales teams to triage delivery anomalies, manage suppression lists, and run follow-ups without requiring SQL access or developer bandwidth.
* **Omnichannel customer profile enrichment**: Stream interaction events into a Customer Data Platform (CDP) like [Twilio Segment](/docs/data-destinations/destination/segment). Keep unified customer profiles updated with real-time message engagement to trigger coordinated cross-channel journeys, enforce intelligent frequency capping, and eliminate redundant outreach across email, voice, and push.

## Data Destinations at a glance

* **Delivery type**: Asynchronous, at-least-once delivery. Twilio queues events for up to four hours and might deliver them out of order.
* **Latency**: Events are typically delivered to your sink within seconds of the triggering action. However, Twilio doesn't maintain any SLAs for Data Destinations latency.
* **Limits**: Each account can have up to 200 destinations and 200 subscriptions.
* **Retention periods**: Twilio retains application logs through Data Destinations for seven days and account-level error logs for 23 days.
* **Sub-account support**: Data Destinations supports both ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) and direct customers. There is no way to receive events from all subaccounts with a single Data Destinations subscription.

## Get started with Data Destinations

* [Set up a destination](/docs/data-destinations/destination-setup): Get connected to downstream business tools and select which events you'd like to receive.
* [Event Types](/docs/data-destinations/event-types): The different types of events that the Data Destinations API provides. One event type can have multiple versions. Twilio recommends subscribing to the latest version of an event.
* [Schemas](/docs/events/event-streams/schema-resource): Schemas define the way Twilio organizes information within events. Each Twilio product has at least one schema.
