# Rich Communication Services (RCS) senders

[Rich Communication Services (RCS)](/docs/rcs) is a modern messaging protocol that enhances traditional SMS and MMS by enabling branded, interactive messages. It streamlines communication by supporting features like a branded profile, read receipts, and rich content, all within a device's default messaging app. RCS is compatible with Android and iOS 18 devices.

RCS lets you send branded, interactive messages to customers globally using [Twilio's APIs](/docs/messaging/tutorials/send-messages-with-messaging-services). You can send longer texts, large media files, turn on read receipts, and more within your device's default messaging app.

> RCS isn't available in all countries. See [programmable messaging RCS regional availability](/docs/rcs/regional) for details on whether RCS is available in your region.
