# Appcues Web (Actions) Destination

[Appcues](https://www.appcues.com/?utm_source=segmentio\&utm_medium=docs\&utm_campaign=partners) adds an experience layer that lets you create user onboarding flows, NPS surveys, and feature announcements without extensive engineering effort.

When you use the Appcues Web (Actions) destination, Segment loads the Appcues JavaScript library for you. The library records user events on your website and delivers experiences that you configure based on user behavior and properties.

## Benefits of Appcues Web (Actions) versus Appcues Classic

Appcues Web (Actions) provides the following benefits over the classic Appcues destination:

* **Clearer data mapping**: Actions-based destinations let you define how data from your Segment source maps to data that Segment sends to Appcues.
* **Granular event control**: You can specify the exact conditions under which events are forwarded to Appcues.
* **Full region support**: Setup allows the destination to be configured for US or EU regions.
* **URL detection control**: Decide whether Appcues automatically detects URL changes or relies on Segment [Page](/docs/segment/connections/spec/) events.

## Getting started

1. In the Segment web app, open **Catalog** and select **Destinations**.
2. In the sidebar, choose **Destination Actions**.
3. Select **Appcues Web (Actions)**.
4. Click **Add destination**.
5. Select the [Analytics.js 2.0](/docs/segment/connections/sources/catalog/libraries/website/javascript/) source you want to connect to Appcues Web (Actions).
6. In the destination settings, enter your **Account ID**, which you can find on the [Appcues account page](https://my.appcues.com/account).
7. Choose the correct **Region** (US or EU) for your Appcues subscription.

## Additional information

### Regional data hosting

Appcues supports data hosting in the US and EU regions. Make sure that the **Region** setting in the destination matches your Appcues subscription.

### URL detection

The **Enable URL Detection** setting controls how Appcues tracks page changes:

* **Disabled (default)**: Appcues relies on Segment Page events to trigger experience checks.
* **Enabled**: Appcues detects URL changes automatically, without explicit Page calls.

In most implementations, keep this setting disabled and use Segment's Page calls for better control over when experiences are triggered.
