# Email Insights Audience Health tab

The Audience Health tab shows how your recipients are interacting with your email. Use this tab to understand open and click trends, where opens are happening, how engagement varies by recipient domain, and how recently or frequently recipients are engaging.

## What's on the Audience Health tab

The Audience Health tab contains the following data:

* **KPI cards**: Open Rate, Click Rate, Spam Report Rate, and Unsubscribe Rate.
* **Opens and clicks over time**: Open and click trends across the selected date range.
* **Opens across countries**: Where opens happen, grouped by country.
* **Engagement rates by domain**: Open rate, click rate, spam complaints, and unsubscribe rate grouped by recipient domain.
* **Engaged recipients over time**: Engaged and not-engaged recipient trends.
* **Frequency distribution**: How many recipients received a given number of emails during the selected period.
* **Time since last open**: How recently recipients last opened an email.

## Machine opens

Apple Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) and similar features cause some opens to be recorded automatically by mail servers before the recipient actually views the message. These are called *machine opens* and are tracked separately from human opens.

By default, Email Insights includes machine opens in open counts. You can filter machine opens out using the **Exclude machine opens** filter to see opens that weren't identified as automated. Excluding machine opens lowers your open counts, so compare like with like when benchmarking against other reporting.

To learn more, see [Understanding Apple Mail Privacy Protection and open events][mpp].

## Filters available on the Audience Health tab

Visible by default:

* Date range
* Recipient domain
* Category
* Template
* Exclude machine opens

Additional filters, available from **Add filters**:

* Device type
* Email client
* Country
* State / Region
* Marketing campaign
* Unsubscribe group

> \[!NOTE]
>
> Not every filter applies to every visualization on a tab. If a visualization can't use an active filter, it shows a message asking you to remove that filter, and the rest of the page still updates. *Frequency distribution*, *Time since last open*, and *Engaged recipients over time* always show all your sending and don't change with filters.

Delivery filters such as IP pool are not available on this tab. Use the [Delivery Errors tab][delivery-errors] for those.

For a full explanation of how filters work, see [Filters and dimensions][filters].
