# Email Insights filters and dimensions

Email Insights supports filtering your data by a wide set of dimensions, letting you isolate specific subsets of email to diagnose problems or compare performance.

## Apply filters

Each tab in Email Insights has a filter bar at the top with a set of default visible filters. Click **+ Add filters** to access the full set of available filters for that tab.

To apply a filter:

1. Click the filter dimension, such as **Recipient domain**.
2. Enter a value or select from the list.
3. The visualizations on the tab update automatically.

You can apply multiple filters simultaneously. Filters are combined with `AND` logic. Each additional filter narrows the result set further.

## Filter availability

Each tab only shows filters that are available for that tab's data. If a filter is not available on a tab, use the tab that contains the related data:

* Delivery filters such as **IP pool** are available on the [Delivery Errors tab][delivery-errors].
* Engagement filters such as **Device type**, **Email client**, **Country**, and **State / Region** are available on the [Audience Health tab][audience-health].
* Message and campaign filters such as **Template**, **Category**, **Single send**, **Marketing campaign**, and **Unsubscribe group** are available on tabs where those filters are supported.

Not every filter applies to every visualization on a tab. If a visualization can't use an active filter, it shows a message asking you to remove that filter, and the rest of the page still updates.

## Filter reference

Most filters accept one or more values. A filter with more than one value matches email that has any of those values. **Exclude machine opens** is a checkbox.

| Filter | Available on tabs |
| ------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| **Category** | All |
| **Country** | Audience Health |
| **Device type** | Audience Health |
| **Email client** | Audience Health |
| **Exclude machine opens** | Overview, Audience Health |
| **IP pool** | Delivery Errors |
| **Marketing campaign** | Delivery Errors, Audience Health |
| **Recipient domain** | All |
| **Single send** | Overview, Delivery Errors |
| **State / Region** | Audience Health |
| **Template** | All |
| **Unsubscribe group** | Delivery Errors, Audience Health |

## Date range

The date range filter applies to all visualizations on all tabs. The date range picker supports windows up to 13 months. History builds forward from when collection began, so windows extending before that return no data. Use the **hour** granularity for short windows (1-3 days) and **day**, **week**, or **month** granularity for longer windows.

## Timezone

Email Insights shows all dates and times in UTC.
