# List Resource

A Sync **List** is an ordered collection of individual items, each storing separate JSON objects. Use Lists to push JSON into an ordered list and update existing items within the list.

After you create a List, you can add, retrieve, update, and delete items from your List with the [ListItem resource](/docs/sync/api/listitem-resource). (That page contains more details on how items are stored in lists, including ordering, expiration, and limitations on each item's size.)

Lists can be created, updated, subscribed to and removed via the client [JavaScript SDK](/docs/sync/javascript/changelog). Servers wishing to manage these objects can do so via the REST API using the examples below.

## Read multiple List resources

#### Paginate through Lists

The Sync API uses **cursor-based pagination**. To move through the full set of Lists, follow the link the API returns for the next page rather than requesting page numbers yourself:

* `PageSize` (optional) sets how many Lists are returned per page. The default is 50 and the maximum is 100.
* `Page` is a page index that Twilio uses for client state only. It does **not** control which results you receive, so incrementing `Page` as `0`, `1`, `2`, … yourself does not advance through the list.
* `PageToken` is an opaque token that the API generates and returns to you. You don't construct it yourself.
* Each response includes a `meta` object. Its `next_page_url` field contains the complete URL for the next page (with the correct `Page` and `PageToken` already filled in). Request that URL to get the next page, and repeat until `meta.next_page_url` is `null`, which means you've reached the last page.

> The [Twilio server-side SDKs](/docs/libraries) handle this pagination for you automatically. If you use a helper library's list/stream methods, you don't need to read `meta.next_page_url` or supply `PageToken` yourself.
