Twilio.org gains executive leadership

Twilio is pleased to announce its first Executive Director of Twilio.org, Erin Reilly, formerly of Google and Yahoo!, as well as a new Twilio.org Board of Advisors member, Suzanne DiBianca, EVP Corporate Relations and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Salesforce. The unmatched experience of these two individuals will be instrumental in achieving Twilio.org’s mission of sending A Billion Messages for Good. Learn more about Twilio.org at www.twilio.org.

“We launched Twilio.org to help equip charitable organizations with great technology for good, including the power of communications,” said Jeff Lawson, CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder of Twilio. “Erin and Suzanne have committed their careers to social good initiatives at some of the world’s largest technology companies. I am constantly inspired by the work of our nonprofit partners and can’t wait to see what they build as Twilio.org continues to grow.”

Erin Reilly joins Twilio most recently from Google where she was the Head of Access and Energy Marketing. In that role, Erin worked on launching new businesses in Africa and India to provide fast access to the Internet and clean energy to people who didn’t have it. Prior to Google, she served as the Senior Director of Yahoo’s corporate social responsibility department, where she contributed to making Yahoo! Green the #1 environmental website on the Internet. Erin also spent time working in apparel sustainability for Nike. In her career, Erin has engaged tens of millions of people in environmental programs and raised millions of dollars for disaster response.

“Twilio’s technology is truly on the frontlines of helping nonprofits and social enterprises achieve their missions. I see unlimited potential for Twilio’s technology to directly drive change in the world, and I’m excited to spend my days getting this technology into the hands of those who can make the most impact,” said Erin Reilly, Executive Director of Twilio.org.

Suzanne DiBianca, EVP Corporate Relations and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Salesforce, is the newest addition to the Twilio.org Board of Advisors. Suzanne leads Salesforce’s stakeholder strategy—including all corporate giving, community relations and sustainability efforts. Suzanne was previously co-founder and president of the Salesforce Foundation and Salesforce.org.

"Twilio continues to lead the way in corporate philanthropy among the next generation of tech companies, most recently by joining Pledge 1% and setting aside 1% of its corporate equity to fund Twilio.org," said DiBianca. "I'm thrilled to be a part of Twilio.org as it works toward its goal to send a billion messages for good and creates positive impact in our communities."

Suzanne joins existing Board of Advisor members Byron Deeter of Bessemer Venture Partners, Mitch Kapor of Kapor Center, Judy Levine of Catoo Partners and Abhi Nemani of Code for America.

Twilio.org was started in 2013 to empower nonprofits to further their missions via communications and currently partners with over 600 nonprofits, including the Red Cross, the Polaris Project and Doctors without Borders. Twilio recently committed 1% of the company’s equity to fund Twilio.org over the next decade.
