60531: SNA Carrier Not Detected

ERROR: 60531

error-60531 page anchor
VERIFY
ERROR

This error occurs when Verify Silent Network Auth cannot identify the end user's carrier from the network used to invoke sna.url. Silent Network Auth requires the mobile device that holds the target SIM to invoke sna.url over mobile data so Verify can complete the carrier check.

Possible causes

possible-causes page anchor
  • The device opened sna.url over Wi-Fi instead of a cellular data connection.
  • The SNA step was started from a desktop or browser-based flow, but the end user did not switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data before invoking sna.url on their phone.
  • The request did not come directly from the mobile device and SIM that Verify needs to check with the carrier.
  • The network IP used for the SNA request could not be associated with a carrier session, so Verify could not determine whether SNA was available for that attempt.
  • Make sure the mobile device with the target SIM directly invokes sna.url over mobile data. Do not use Wi-Fi for the SNA request.
  • If you use a mobile app, route the SNA request over the cellular network so the device does not fall back to Wi-Fi.
  • If you use a browser-based or desktop-assisted SNA flow, instruct the end user to turn off Wi-Fi before opening the SNA step on their phone.
  • If SNA may not work for a device, use channel=auto and include device_ip so Verify can fall back to SMS when carrier or network restrictions prevent SNA.
  • If you are not using automatic fallback, retry the verification with another supported Verify channel such as SMS.
