MESSAGING
ERROR

You receive this error when the account that submitted the message request is not allowed to send outbound messages. Review the account or subaccount that owns the request before you retry.

Possible causes

possible-causes page anchor
  • Outbound messaging is disabled for the account that submitted the request.
  • You sent the request with credentials for a different account or subaccount than the one you intended to use.
  • A suspended account or subaccount is blocking outbound SMS. Suspended main accounts also suspend their subaccounts.
  • Verify which account or subaccount is making the request. If you send from a subaccount, use that subaccount's Account SID and Auth Token.
  • Check the status of the affected account or subaccount. If you suspended a subaccount, update its Status to active to restore service.
  • If you did not intend to disable outbound messaging, or if the main account is suspended, contact Twilio Support from the affected account to review the restriction and restore service.
  • Review the failed message in Messaging Logs or Error Logs so you can confirm which account generated the error before you retry the request or open a support ticket.
