Autonomous System Number (ASN)

An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is a unique identifier that is globally available and allows its autonomous system to exchange routing information with other systems.


Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

A standardized exterior gateway protocol used to exchange routing and reachability information between autonomous systems on the Internet.


A specific network interface on a router or network device that is configured to participate in BGP routing.


A BGP prefix refers to a specific block of IP addresses that is advertised by a BGP router.


A special part of a data center where tenants can have interconnections and exchange data securely and privately. This is usually done by creating a direct patch (fiber or copper) between tenants' patch panels once an LoA has been issued to the data center provider.


A set of IP addresses or network resources that are included in the scope of a security policy for encryption and security measures. The encryption domain specifies which traffic should be protected by encryption when transmitted over a VPN tunnel.


A router or firewall device supporting a VPN connecting two or more networks together using security protocols such as IPSec.
