60241: Static message required

WARNING: 60241

warning-60241 page anchor
VERIFY
WARNING

This warning occurs when Verify cannot send the custom verification text you requested and requires a static, approved message instead. The customMessage parameter is deprecated, and SMS or Voice customizations should use the default Verify template or an approved TemplateSid.

Possible causes

possible-causes page anchor
  • Your verification request included customMessage, which Verify marks as deprecated.
  • The destination country applies messaging restrictions that require fixed or approved verification copy. Verify calls out special SMS restrictions for Canada and Singapore, and China requires template registration.
  • You need customized SMS or Voice text, but your Verify service or verification request is not using an approved template. Verify templates are the supported way to customize SMS and Voice verification messages.
  • Remove customMessage from the verification request. Let Verify send the default message, or pass an approved TemplateSid for SMS or Voice.
  • If you need custom copy, use a pre-approved template or request a custom template. You can set the template as the default for the Verify service or provide TemplateSid when you create the verification.
  • If you send traffic to countries with stricter requirements, such as Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, or China, contact support to register or validate your template before sending. If you change the template for China, register the new message body again.
