Lookups Guide

Overview

Twilio Lookup helps you know the details behind a phone number. Using Lookup, you can do things like:

  1. Validate and format phone numbers for local or international use
  2. Identify a number's carrier and type: landline, mobile, or VoIP
  3. Look up the name of the number's owner, if available (U.S. only)

In this guide we'll cover everything you need to start using Twilio Lookup in your own applications.

Local Development Environment

The easiest way to use Twilio Lookup is with one of Twilio's SDKs. You can find instructions for your programming language below:

Using a programming language not listed here? No worries, you can still use Twilio Lookup by hitting our REST API directly:

lookups.twilio.com/v1/PhoneNumbers/{PhoneNumber}

All requests must use Basic HTTP Authentication. Use your Account SID as your username and your Auth Token as your password. You can find them in the Twilio Console.
