Email Activity Feed

(information)

Info

Higher-volume customers might not have access to the new Email Activity Feed yet. For information about the legacy feed, see Legacy Email Activity.

The Email Activity Feed displays a snapshot of recent email-activity events for your account and any subusers. Each entry shows the full delivery flow of the message, which helps you identify delivery issues. If you purchase the Email Activity history add-on, the feed retains events for up to 30 days.

The Email Activity Feed records the following events.

EventDescription
ProcessedAn email request that SendGrid has received from your website, application, or mail client through SMTP Relay or the API.
ClicksA recipient clicked a click-tracked link. The feed shows the time of the click and the destination URL.
DeliveredThe recipient's mail server accepted the message.
OpensThe message was opened by the recipient.
UnsubscribesThe recipient unsubscribed from your email.
Group UnsubscribesThe recipient unsubscribed from a suppression group.
Group ResubscribesThe recipient resubscribed to a suppression group.
DeferredThe recipient's mail server asked SendGrid to slow down message delivery.
DropsSendGrid didn't attempt delivery because the recipient is suppressed, previously bounced, or reported the message as spam.
BouncesThe receiving server rejected the message. Attempts to send to previously unsubscribed recipients are also bounced.
BlocksThe message was blocked by an ISP or messaging organization. Blocks are temporary and don't automatically suppress future sends.
Spam ReportsThe recipient marked the message as spam, and the recipient's mail server reported the action to SendGrid.

Warning

Deferral and bounce events might not include an IP address. For example, an internal deferral occurs when SendGrid detects an issue at a recipient's MX record and pauses delivery until the issue clears. Because no action is taken, no IP address is logged. A delayed bounce occurs when mail is accepted but later rejected after the SMTP conversation ends, so the subsequent bounce lacks the original connection information.

Danger

Parse events aren't available in the Email Activity Feed. Use your Inbound Parse endpoint to verify that parse events are posting correctly.

The Email Activity Feed lists each message. Select a message to view the events that have occurred for that message. Use the basic or advanced search to filter by subject line, recipient, or event type.

The email address field uses fuzzy matching. The date field limits events to the selected range.
