Cloud marketplace account access

If a reseller marketplace provisioned your Twilio SendGrid account, you must access your SendGrid account using a Twilio identity. Marketplaces may include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Heroku.

Why a Twilio identity is required for accessing marketplace accounts

Cloud marketplace accounts used the Account Provisioning API for single sign-on. Using the API, they generated a one-time code. They exchanged that code for access to the customer's Twilio SendGrid account. This approach had serious limitations:

  • Anyone with access to your marketplace subscription also had full account-owner access to your SendGrid account.
  • No method existed that could restrict access or assign different roles to different users.
  • Multiple users accessing the account left no visibility or audit trail.

Unified identity replaces the one-time code exchange flow for new and existing marketplace accounts. This links your Twilio identity to your SendGrid account. This link grants the Twilio identity access as a teammate on your SendGrid account. This enables centralized user management across multiple SendGrid accounts.

Twilio prompts unified identity setup

The next time you access SendGrid through the marketplace, you need to configure a Twilio identity.

Access to your marketplace account

When you provision your SendGrid account through a cloud marketplace and you access the SendGrid account for the first time:

  1. To access your SendGrid account, click on the link in the marketplace. The link differs across marketplaces:
  • AWS: Click Set up your account.
  • Microsoft Azure: Click Open SaaS Account on publisher's site.
  • Google Cloud: Click Manage on provider.
  • Heroku: Click the Add-on Services Service name link.
  1. Enter your email address in the Email address box. After this setup, you use this email address for the unified identity.
  2. Click Continue.
  3. Twilio verifies the email address for use against Twilio identity systems.
  • If the Twilio identity already exists for that email address, the site directs you to log in.
  • If not, the site directs you to sign up for a Twilio identity.
  1. After completing sign-up or sign-in, Twilio SendGrid creates a unified teammate. This teammate is linked your email address, SendGrid account, and Twilio identity.

If the login page displays an error message in a banner at the top of the page, follow its instructions. If the issue persists, contact Twilio SendGrid support(link takes you to an external page).

Manage access with role-based controls

Because marketplace accounts use Twilio unified identity and the SendGrid teammate model, you can:

  • Add teammates: Invite additional users to your SendGrid account with the permissions they need for their role.
  • Assign specific roles: Grant teammates admin, read-only, or restricted access rather than giving everyone account-owner access.
  • Link one identity to multiple accounts: A single Twilio identity can be a unified teammate on multiple SendGrid marketplace accounts, making it easy to manage several accounts without separate logins.
