For this week’s contest we’re partnering with PayPalX to find the best application that combines PayPal’s powerful payments platform with Twilio’s Voice and SMS APIs. More specifically, entries in this contest must use Twilio with PayPal’s Adapative Payment API.

PayPal Adaptive Payments is a flexible API that allows you to build a payment system that works across multiple platforms like web, desktop and mobile. Using this API you can establish payment relationships with your customers that work on an ongoing basis, removing the need to require permission for every transaction. This type of relationship works especially well for voice and SMS-based apps, so we’re excited to see the great applications you come up with. If you’re looking for inspiration for what to build, check out the PayPalX App Showcase.

The winner of this week’s contest will win $100 in Twilio credit and a $250 Amazon gift card. PayPalX is also throwing in an additional $200 Visa gift card for the winning entry. The deadline for submitting entries is Sunday October 31 at 11:59pm PT. Previous entries to the Twilio developer contest that didn’t win are eligible to enter again. Complete contest rules can be found here.

In addition to the contest, PayPalX’s second annual developer conference will be taking place next week (October 26-27) at Moscone West in San Francisco. One of the events taking place at Innovate will be a hackathon. If you’re building app for this week’s contest, the hackathon will be a great place to get access to employees from both PayPal and Twilio to help you get the most out of the APIs. Participants in the hackathon will have a chance to win some great prizes as well. If you’re thinking about attending but haven’t registered yet, use promo code “LETSINNOVATE” to get a $100 off of the registration price. Hopefully see you there!
