5 Questions with Thomas Wyatt, President of Twilio Segment

Twilio is thrilled to welcome Thomas Wyatt as the President of Twilio Segment. He will be responsible for driving product innovation, go-to-market execution, and the overall success of Segment. Along with a wealth of experience in AI and data analytics, Thomas is a builder, with a passion for innovation and a proven ability to deliver it.

Most recently, Thomas served as the Chief Product & Strategy Officer of People.ai, a pioneer in bringing AI-powered data capabilities to go-to-market teams. Previously, he was the Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer of AppDynamics, a leader in application monitoring and intelligence. Prior to that, he spent over a decade as a VP/GM for a range of businesses spanning data & analytics, cloud infrastructure, communications, and video at Cisco.

We asked him five questions to get to know him and learn what he’s excited to build at Twilio.

What excites you the most about joining the team at Twilio?

I am honored to join this remarkable organization that I've long admired. Having spent the past decade building and scaling data and AI businesses, I've developed a deep appreciation for how critical a unique data platform fueled by first-party data is for delivering AI-powered experiences for customers. This is what drew me to Twilio. 

Twilio’s Communications products stand as the premier communication platform upon which developers rely—a brand synonymous with trust and innovation. Equally compelling is Twilio Segment, the leading customer data platform, renowned for its excellent reputation among customers. With its data-centric heritage, Segment possesses deep expertise in data integration, identity resolution, privacy, and the scalability essential for top brands. As a longtime Segment customer, I understand the power of the product and the importance of a unified customer profile for delivering personalized AI-driven experiences. I have a lot of respect for the critical work the team has done to establish a strong foundation for us to build on to deliver the market leading customer engagement platform.

What’s your favorite productivity hack?

I am all about optimizing my calendar to focus on the most important priorities. I like to schedule “deep work” time daily to focus on getting things done, usually 60-90 minutes per day. I need an uncluttered and clean workspace to get going and love to pump EDM music on my headset to help keep me focused. I prefer quick chats that generate fast decisions vs. “meetings for meeting’s sake” and use my daily deep work time to tackle my most challenging tasks for the day.

What Twilio Magic value resonates with you the most?

“We are builders.” I like to think that I’m a builder with a learning mindset. And I believe that striving to be better unlocks greatness, for us as individuals, and for the companies we serve. I’m committed to acting as “One Team” within a company, seeing my teammates succeed, and building friendships that last a lifetime. And I believe when we build great products, our customers will love us and the value we create for them. 

Favorite vacation spot?

Punta Mita, Mexico.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

Fitness and meditation, 49ers/Warriors, Financial Markets, and dabble as an EDM DJ.
