Twilio and MongoDB have a few things in common: we both offer developers a highly scalable product for a complicated problem, we love coding for a cause, and we want you to join us at the 10Gen HQ in NYC on Friday, April 27th for the Powered by MongoDB hackathon. Register right now, right here to secure your spot!

The event is free, but you can donate to support a great cause – 100% of the donations to the event will go to HackNY to educate young developers and help build the New York startup community.

In addition to helping out student hackers, you’ll also have a chance to score some amazing prizes, including an iPad, Xbox 360, a year subscription to a Github Org Account, and free tickets to MongoNYC for the winning project. Twilio Developer Evangelist, Jon Gottfried will be there to help you with Twilio, so make sure you say hello.

MongoDB and Twilio: Old Friends and New Apps

What can you build with MongoDB and Twilio? Check out this hack from developer Ben Morris who used both APIs to build  PhoneTap, an app that lets you record a phone call, with the other party’s consent. When the call is completed you can then download the MP3 recording.  This is an excellent tool for journalists or writers and sparked some buzz immediately in the reporter community.

If you have any questions about the event or want to follow along, visit the event website or tweet @MongoDB. See you in New York!
