On a Sunday morning, Amit got a text from the man delivering his furniture. The man wanted to apologize for last night. The two had not seen each other the previous night.

This singular text vaulted Amit into a professional’s personal life. That bell can’t be unrung, but the root problem can be engineered out of existence. If you run your business from your phone, or more accurately, your SMS inbox, you probably need some organizational help. Heymarket aims to make SMS scalable for businesses and scalable on mobile using Twilio.

“Businesses want an app businesses can pick up and start using in seconds,” says Amit Kulkarni, co-founder and CEO of Heymarket.  Amit built Heymarket with co-founder Manav Monga to let businesses to harness the simplicity and power of SMS in complex ways.

Acting Like Email, Opening Like SMS

One of the biggest benefits of SMS has nothing to do with the message, it’s the medium. When a user gets a text, they read it immediately. SMS logs a 98% open rate, and Heymarket customers are seeing similar results with an 80% reply rate. Email pales in comparison.
“The way we look at it is those customer interactions over email,  there’s a lot of powerful ways to manage those interactions. But the customer interactions over text, there’s really no good way to manage those interactions. We’re trying to build a way that any one of these interactions can lead to a two way conversation.”

Heymarket’s app is built around organization and insight. They offer their users the ability to segment client into lists for more granular messages that pertain to those separate groups. Sending a message doesn’t cut it. Businesses have to send the right message at right time using the right medium to have an impact. Using Twilio SMS, Heymarket empowers their customers to make an impact.

One Heymarket customer commented, “When I send an email to a bunch of my customers, I assume they don’t read it. When I send a text message to my customers, I assume they’ll read it. And when the read the text, I assume they’ll respond to it.”

When a client replies to a text, the business can message them back straight from the app. If the conversation calls for an in person meeting, businesses can access their calendar from the app to easily determine their availability.

There’s no need to type “let’s get a meeting on the books” over and over. Businesses can create templates for frequently used texts, add photos and media using Twilio MMS and more.

Heymarket is currently working on a web app that allows businesses to send SMS straight from their browser, bringing the power of mobile to your desktop.
