We’re excited to announce today that the Twilio Status Page is unveiling a new design and vastly enhanced functionality!

Every month, thousands of customers rely on Twilio’s status page to monitor the current health of our products and services. Our newly redesigned Status Page continues to deliver on our commitment to provide radical transparency to customers like you who trust us with their business-critical communications.

When things don’t work as expected, our customers value simple and actionable indicators and alerts which convey an incident’s impact to them. Our old status page, while providing high levels of transparency, often forced customers to separate signal from noise. Without the ability to create fine-grained filters for products and regions you care about, our alerts had become too noisy.

We’re listening. We took your invaluable feedback to heart, and are proud to share our new status page design today.

What has changed with our status page?

  1. The status of Twilio products and services is now separate from the status of external network operators
  2. We’ve improved visual indicators of service health and incident severity
  3. We now breakdown service status by geography

The new status page features an improved user experience that clearly distinguishes between the status of Twilio software services and issues in external carrier networks that impact service KPIs like SMS deliverability.

Our investments in the Twilio Super Network have improved our capabilities to detect (and route around!) more global carrier network issues than ever before. However, some issues like regional carrier outages or scheduled maintenance are still beyond our control.

We designed the new status page UI to surface these insights, so you can understand the exact causes of degraded services and react appropriately.

Improved visual indicators of service health and incident severity

One major challenge of our new design was surfacing only the most relevant incident details and status indicators to you.

We don’t want every regional disruption to show your usage as degraded. At the same time, we never want want to show you “All Systems Operational” when a regional issue is impacting your business.

To address both types of errors, we landed on the following design:

Status breakdown by geography

Alert filtering based on geography was a highly requested feature, and we’re very happy to announce it’s now available.

You can now subscribe to incident alerts only for the regions you care about, or cast the net widely and subscribe to all regions. Making changes is simple: subscribe to all regions at once, add alerts for new regions incrementally, or modify subscriptions from the console anytime.

If you’re already subscribed to Status Page alerts, we have automatically subscribed you to the same products you were subscribed to in the previous system, as well as the corresponding external carrier alerts. To selectively opt-out of alerts for regions that aren’t relevant to you, click ‘Subscribe to Updates’ on the top right of the Status Page, enter your address information and click ‘Manage Notifications’.  You can also manage your subscriptions any time from the Twilio console.

Designing a world-class Status Page

Our previous Status Page design served us well, but as we’ve added more products, services and partners to the Twilio ecosystem it was time for an upgrade.

We know you depend on timely incident response and status updates and you rely on Twilio to quickly identify, triage, and fix issues when they inevitably arise. We truly hope this new Status Page design increases your trust in our services and makes it easier for you to find all the details you need.
