Twilio brings global cloud communications to Chinese developers

Twilio today is bringing its global expertise to China’s new wave of digital-led companies and startups who are building services and capabilities for global users. Twilio’s platform enables developers and businesses to embed Voice, SMS, IP Messaging, Video and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) into their applications programmatically to easily build, run and scale their global applications in the cloud. Twilio is exhibiting at GMIC Beijing from April 28 - 31 at the National Convention Center at booth number Q14.

“Many domestic Chinese companies are rapidly growing and becoming global industry leaders, yet building applications for the international market requires a different level of expertise and know-how. Twilio is the global cloud communications platform that provides high performance and reliable solutions across Voice, Messaging and Video, ” said Roy Ng, COO of Twilio speaking at GMIC Beijing, Asia’s largest mobile internet conference. Chinese businesses are no longer forced to take on significant capital investments to expand into new markets - a risky investment with no ability to easily scale as the business grew. Twilio’s platform empowers businesses in China to enter and scale in new markets quickly and effectively.”

Twilio’s cloud communications platform leverages over 20 data centers around the world to deliver high performance and low latency communications to nearly every corner of the globe. Twilio also offers 24x7x365 technical support.

5miles is an online and mobile marketplace, which helps users buy and sell goods both locally and globally. 5miles’ teams are based in Beijing and Dallas. Since its launch a little over a year ago, 5miles has facilitated nearly $2 billion in transactions, today averaging more than $200 million in goods and services every month and just pulled in $30 million Series B funding in October 2015.

“By leveraging Twilio’s platform, 5miles was able to dramatically reduce its time to market. With Twilio, we are able to deploy easily in the US and anywhere in the world and be in production in a few days. We are trying to be the most innovative company focused on local marketplaces and Twilio helps us with our global communication needs,” said Lucas Lu, CEO of 5miles.
