AT&T RCS support added to Twilio Programmable Messaging

Twilio Programmable Messaging now supports RCS messaging to AT&T phone numbers, expanding RCS coverage to all major U.S. carriers.

When submitting an RCS Sender for carrier approval in the United States, Twilio will now submit the Sender for approval across all major carriers. RCS Senders that have already been approved by other U.S. carriers will automatically be submitted to AT&T for review and approval.

To start sending branded RCS messages using Twilio Programmable Messaging, go to the Twilio Console to create and submit an RCS Sender.

With this update, adding AT&T phone numbers as test devices is temporarily unsupported. RCS Senders must be approved by AT&T before RCS messages can be delivered to AT&T numbers. Support for using AT&T phone numbers as test devices will be added in early 2026.

Note that while all brands can submit RCS Senders for carrier approval, Twilio cannot provide an SLA or guarantee Sender approval by carriers.
