Twilio Changelog | Sep. 15, 2025

Dual-Channel Conference Recordings as default is now GA

Voice Conference Recordings are now recorded and stored in dual-channel by default in all regions!

Starting September 15th, Twilio will begin rolling out Dual-channel Conference Recording to all accounts. New Conference recordings will be generated and stored in two separate channels; the first channel contains audio from the first participant to join and the second channel contains all other audio. Dual-channel Conference Recording will be enabled by default without any change required in your Twilio application with the following limitation:

  • Dual-channel Conference Recording is not available for accounts using Encryption with Public Key or External Storage. Accounts with either setting enabled will have Conference recordings captured in a mono-channel file until enhanced recording controls are available.

When the roll out is complete, the Dual-channel Recording for Conference setting will be removed from the Voice Console page.

To ensure no disruption to existing applications occurs, the default download for Conference recordings will continue to be mono-channel, but applications can retrieve the dual-channel file by appending the RequestedChannels query parameter to the GET request and setting the value to 2.
