Twilio Changelog | Jun. 25, 2026

Enhanced Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is a GA product in the new Twilio Console

With Enhanced RBAC we have introduced more granular roles called built-in roles, which provide access to specific Twilio products including Messaging, Studio, Phone Numbers etc. You can find the complete list of new roles here.

These roles can be assigned at the organization, account or subaccount level, unlike the general roles which can only be assigned at the account level.

Some of the key improvements made to RBAC in the new Twilio Console compared to the Legacy Console are:

  1. Centralized Management: You can manage all user role assignments across multiple accounts and subaccounts from the User Management pages in Organization settings. Additionally, built-in roles can now be managed directly from the Account Users page, which is not supported in the Legacy Console.

  2. Expanded Product Support: We have introduced new built-in roles for products such as Email, Memory, and Trust Hub. Rest assured, all built-in roles previously available in the Legacy Console are also supported in the new Twilio Console.

  3. Streamlined Workflows: We have eliminated the separate Role Assignment page and merged all role assignments into the Users page for a consolidated view. You can now use the Role Assignments tab under User Details to add or edit roles.

RBAC in the Legacy Console will remain in Public Beta due to the lack of built-in roles management at the account level. We will continue to support the current general and organization roles in the new Twilio Console.
