Twilio Changelog | Aug. 26, 2025

RCS Messaging is now generally available

RCS Business Messaging is generally available in the Twilio Programmable Messaging API. Start experiencing rich, branded, verified communications through RCS.

Create, test, and prototype your first RCS Sender in the Twilio Console, without needing to request access. Once you’re ready to use RCS for production traffic, submit your RCS compliance information and our operations team will guide you through the carrier approval process*.

Twilio will automatically send RCS messages to capable devices or seamlessly fallback to SMS or MMS. Fallback functionality is available with no code changes for customers using Messaging Services – simply add your RCS sender to the sender pool.

Twilio supports all key RCS rich content through the Content API, unlocking higher engagement and conversational experiences with Rich Cards, Buttons, Carousels and Media.

Go to Console to get started now.

For more information, see our docs.

* While all brands can submit RCS Senders for carrier approval, Twilio can not provide an SLA or guarantee Sender approval by carriers.
