A New Platform Chapter — And Why Partners Are at the Center of It

Written by

Today at SIGNAL, Twilio launched one of the largest releases in our history — the next generation of the platform, built for engagement in the AI era. After seventeen years of building the reliable infrastructure behind the world's most important customer moments, we are shipping the layer that makes every conversation continuous, contextual, and personal across every channel and every participant, whether human or AI.

It is also an incredibly important moment for our partner ecosystem — and here’s why:

What we announced

The headline of SIGNAL is Twilio Conversations — a unified set of platform capabilities that turn every interaction into one continuous, contextual conversation across humans, AI agents, and channels. Generally available today to our 12 million developers and 402,000 customer accounts:

  • Conversation Memory — persistent, cross-channel customer memory

  • Conversation Orchestrator — fragmented calls and messages turned into one continuous conversation

  • Conversation Intelligence — real-time AI language operators that turn live conversations into action

  • Agent Connect — a model-agnostic framework that bridges any AI agent to Twilio's voice and messaging channels

That is the headline, but not the only news at SIGNAL. We also launched the new Twilio Console (GA) and a wave of updates across messaging, identity, and data rolling out through the conference.

As Twilio CEO Khozema Shipchandler says, intelligence without context is just guesswork, and intelligence without orchestration is just noise. Twilio Conversations bridges the gap  with an open-by-design architecture. No walled gardens, no rip-and-replace — just your models, your data, and your stack.

Why this is a bigger partner moment than it appears

By 2029, IDC estimates 200 million AI agents will be talking, texting, and emailing humans on behalf of enterprises. None of that gets built — or rolled out, or made to work in the real world — without partners.

For most of our company history, the Twilio partner story has been about APIs. That story still matters and is not going anywhere. But what we shipped today is bigger — a composable layer for customer engagement at the center of CPaaS, CCaaS, CDP, and AI. It marks our evolution from a pure API provider to a complete engagement powerhouse. The platform is open by design, growing stronger with every partner that extends it — whether that's a technology partner providing best-in-class capability (like AWS plugging into Agent Connect), or an SI partner building bespoke implementations for specific customer needs.

To support these initiatives, we are launching new partner certifications for Twilio Conversations, with more debuting across late Q2 and early Q3. These credentials give services and technology partners a credible way to specialize, differentiate their offerings, and accelerate their go-to-market strategies using our latest innovations.

What's next for partners

Over the coming months, we will continue to equip our partner channels with the full certifications curriculum, a new financial framework for services-led implementation, and dedicated ‘Build with Us’ demo environments. We are also doubling down on the specific verticals and use cases where Twilio is leaning in hardest. This launch isn't the finish line — it’s the start of a new conversation.

How to plug in

Connect with your Partner Account Manager this week to discuss  where you can drive the most impact and how Twilio Conversations fits your customers’ needs. Be sure to ask about our new certifications. If you’re unsure who  your PAM is, reach out to the Twilio Partner Team to get started.

Seventeen years ago, we bet that every developer would need a way to reach people. Today, we're making an even bigger bet: that every agent will need the same thing — and that the partners in this ecosystem are the ones who will lead them there.
