Twilio Joins the Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG)
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 8, 2019 — Twilio (NYSE: TWLO), the leading cloud communications platform, today announced that it has joined the Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG). M3AAWG is the premier industry group dedicated to combating bots, malware, spam, viruses, denial-of-service attacks and other online exploitation across platforms, including mobile, email, voice and emerging platforms such as social messaging.
M3AAWG leverages the depth and experience of its global members to tackle abuse on existing platforms and emerging services through technology, collaboration and public policy. It also works to educate global policy makers on the technical and operational issues related to online messaging abuse. Attendees of M3AAWG’s general meetings include technologists, anti-abuse and security professionals, law enforcement, government regulators and companies with a vested interest in preventing abuse on their platforms and across the Internet.

SendGrid, acquired by Twilio in February 2019, has been an active member of M3AAWG since 2010. SendGrid personnel are involved at multiple levels of M3AAWG’s organization:
- Len Shneyder, vice president of Industry Relations, has served as a vice chair on the Board of Directors for M3AAWG, is a current co-chair for the Program Committee, runs the Marketing Committee and works with the Growth and Development Committee to expand M3AAWG’s reach to like-minded organizations.
- Quinten Zuber, Twilio's manager of Compliance, is the co-chair for M3AAWG’s Open Round Table Committee.
- Jon Jenkins, Twilio’s product manager of Compliance Engineering, is a co-chair on M3AAWG’s Collaboration Committee.
- Other Twilio SendGrid employees have held posts throughout the years across M3AAWG committees, including the Sender Committee and the Training Committee, demonstrating the importance placed on the organization’s work and Twilio SendGrid’s commitment to improving trusted communications across the industry.
During M3AAWG’s 47th General Meeting, Oct. 14-17, 2019, in Montreal, Twilio executives will be presenting on a variety of topics, including the fragmented landscape of global phone number regulation. Ike Delorenzo, Twilio’s vice president of Phone Numbers, will share how a keen understanding of that landscape can aid businesses in thwarting the efforts of bad actors bent on exploiting the phone system.
