Twilio Joins USTelecom

The Broadband Association today announced San Francisco-based cloud communications platform Twilio (NYSE: TWLO) has joined as a new member.

Jonathan Spalter, USTelecom president and chief executive officer, welcomed Karyn Smith, Twilio’s general counsel and corporate secretary, to the association’s Board of Directors this week in Washington.

Spalter said: “Twilio is transforming today’s communications experience. The company has built a groundbreaking cloud-based platform bringing voice, text, email, chat, video and more to consumers in new and relevant ways – expertise that will be invaluable as we expand our association’s reach in cloud computing and next generation broadband technologies.”

"By joining USTelecom, Twilio is furthering our commitment to protect voice and messaging channels, partner with carriers and the voice provider industry to combat illegal robocalls, protect our networks from cyberattacks, and ensure we have consistent federal policies that benefit consumers and businesses alike," said Karyn Smith, general counsel and corporate secretary for Twilio. “Trust is critical for traditional and cloud communications. Together, Twilio and USTelecom will bolster trust in voice and messaging channels for all."
