Our Investment Process

To streamline our investment process, we have created a standard form side letter that we use for all Twilio Ventures investments which includes the following terms:

 

  • Information Rights

    We require financial statements on a quarterly basis to help satisfy our public company reporting requirements.

  • Pro Rata Rights

    Provides us flexibility and the option to participate in subsequent funding rounds.

  • Public Relations and Branding

     We ask for prior approval to use Twilio’s name and logo in any public funding announcement.

  • Right of Notice

    If you get an acquisition offer from a third party, we want to know about it! This does not give us any rights for negotiation, etc. It’s just a heads up about the process a few days in advance.

No, we typically will not request a Board seat nor a Board Observer seat.

We typically look to participate in Series A and B funding rounds, though we do consider seed or later stage investments on an ad hoc basis.

Typically we invest between $1M and $5M.

At this stage, Twilio Ventures is focused on participating in funding rounds led by leading financial investors.

We are currently investing from a $50M commitment from Twilio dedicated to Twilio Ventures.

Our sweet-spot is supporting innovative and emerging platforms that are focused on building the future of AI, developer tools and customer engagement solutions.

While we don't tie investment decisions to existing commercial or partnership agreements, we do support portfolio companies with strategic opportunities that may emerge over time.
