Voice Comments for Box Takes Top Prize in Developer Contest

Developer Timothee Boucher brought some serious API heat to the Twilio and Box developer contest last month with his app “Voice Comments for Box”. This app lets users record short voice comments and attach them to any document stored in their Box account.

For example, if you’re editing a collaborative piece you can select a sentence or paragraph and record a thought tied to it. Twilio then transcribes the message and adds it to the document. Other users can listen to messages in-line. It’s pretty cool, but we’ll let Timothee show you himself:

This app was built with Twilio Client, transcription and Box API with a little jQuery. Find the source code here on GitHub. Timothee is based in the Bay Area by way of France from a short-term internship eight years ago that turned him into a local. He boasts that half his wardrobe is Twilio shirts, so we’ll be sure to send out a fresh one with his prize pack. Timothee scored a free 50GB Box account, a Kindle Fire and a full pass to TwilioCon 2012 in October. What’s he looking forward to most with the upcoming conference?

“I went to the first TwilioCon last year and it was the first conference that I really enjoyed. Sure, it might be because I’m a bit of a Twilio fanboy, but it was a lot of fun and it was cool to meet in real life some people I knew only online, from the IRC #twilio channel for example. So I’m looking forward to the same this year.”
