Jeff Lawson

Co-Founder, CEO, & Chairman

A serial entrepreneur and a software developer, Jeff co-founded Twilio in 2008 to bring communications into the world of software. Prior to Twilio, Jeff was co-founder & CTO of NineStar, founding CTO of Stubhub.com, co-founder, CEO & CTO of Versity, and one of the first product managers for Amazon Web Services. Jeff grew up in Detroit, started his first company at age 12 doing event video production, DJ’d his way through college, and graduated from the University of Michigan. He is a father of two young boys, enjoys photography, and always makes time to hack on new software and hardware projects.

George Hu

COO

George served four of his 13 years at Salesforce as COO, where he owned all major shared operational functions for the company. He also served in a variety of other management roles including VP of Product Marketing, SVP of Applications, EVP of Products, and Chief Marketing Officer. After leaving Salesforce at the end of 2014, George founded a workplace feedback startup called Peer that was acquired by Twitter in 2016. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard College and a master’s degree in business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. George was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Karyn Smith

General Counsel、Corporate Secretary

Karyn has worked with high growth companies for over 20 years, bringing her passion for building high performing teams to Twilio in 2014 as its first lawyer. Today she leads the Company’s legal, government affairs, regulatory compliance and privacy teams. Prior to Twilio, Karyn was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Zynga, where she oversaw all corporate matters and led Zynga through its $1B IPO in 2011. Before Zynga, Karyn was a partner of Cooley LLP, representing emerging growth companies at all stages of growth, from formation through liquidity event and beyond. Karyn has been recognized numerous times for her leadership, including most recently the National Women in Law’s thought leadership award in 2018. Karyn earned her Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and her JD cum laude from Santa Clara University School of Law. Karyn currently sits on the boards of BSA, the Software Alliance, and USTelecom.

Khozema Shipchandler

CFO

Khozema brings over 20 years of experience in finance, most recently serving as GE Digital’s chief commercial officer. In addition to his role as CFO, Khozema also oversees Twilio’s trust and security teams. Khozema previously served in a variety of positions within GE, including as the chief financial officer and EVP of corporate development at GE Digital and the vice president of corporate audit staff of GE. Khozema earned his bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University Bloomington and graduate coursework at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Erin Reilly

Chief Social Impact Officer

Erin is energized by using a company’s unique assets to create positive impact on the world. In the past 20 years, she’s driven social and environmental change while working at companies such as Google, Yahoo!, and Nike. She’s helped launch new businesses in Africa and India to provide fast access to the Internet, engaged tens of millions of people in environmental programs, and raised millions of dollars for disaster response. Erin also has experience in the nonprofit sector at Business for Social Responsibility, and started her career at the engineering firm Tetra Tech. She holds a BA in Human Biology / Environmental Management from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Sameer Dholakia

Twilio SendGrid CEO

Sameer has over 20 years of experience in successfully bringing high growth, disruptive cloud and enterprise software solutions to market. Previously Sameer was the CEO of SendGrid and during his tenure, SendGrid’s revenue nearly quadrupled and he led the company’s 2017 initial public offering. He received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Chee Chew

Chief Product Officer

Chee Chew brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology industry formerly working at companies such as Amazon, Hewlett-Packard, Google, and Microsoft. Chew holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Olin College of Engineering.

Sara Varni

Chief Marketing Officer

Sara is responsible for growing Twilio’s community of developers while simultaneously bringing Twilio into the enterprise market. Prior to Twilio, Sara was SVP of Marketing at Salesforce where she was responsible for the positioning and go-to-market strategy for Sales Cloud, the world’s leading sales platform. At Salesforce, Sara held various leadership roles, including marketing for Desk.com and the Salesforce AppExchange. Before joining Salesforce, Sara worked in mobile strategy at E! Networks. She holds a BS in Business Administration from Bucknell University and an MBA from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA.

Glenn Weinstein

Marc Boroditsky

Marc is responsible for developing and executing sales strategy and leading Twilio’s global sales team. Marc joined Twilio by way of the company’s acquisition of Authy in 2015 and served as general manager of Account Security prior to his current sales role. Marc is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 30 years experience including more than 25 years with technology startups. He has founded and financed four software companies in electronic medical records, authentication, and identity management. He successfully completed the sale of his most recent startup, Authy, to Twilio and before that, Passlogix, to Oracle.

Steve Pugh

Chief Security Officer

Steve is the former chief information security officer of the White House Military Office and has more than 20 years experience in cybersecurity, national security, and intelligence. Prior to joining Twilio, Steve was the chief information security officer for Ionic Security and has served under two Presidents as a military communications aide. He spent 16 years in the U.S. Air Force as a cyber warfare officer, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Steve is an advisory board member for DEVCON client-side security, Savvy Cyber Kids and is an inaugural advisory board member for the National Technology Security Coalition.

Jeff is a serial inventor with over 15 years of entrepreneurial and product experience. Rick Dalzell

Mr. Richard Dalzell was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Amazon.com, Inc. until his retirement in 2007. Previously, Mr. Dalzell served in numerous other positions at Amazon.com, Inc., including Senior Vice President of Worldwide Architecture and Platform Software and Chief Information Officer from 2001 to 2007, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer from 2000 to 2001 and Vice President and Chief Information Officer from 1997 to 2000. Prior to his employment with Amazon.com, Inc., Mr. Dalzell was Vice President of the Information Systems Division at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. from 1994 to 1997.

Mr. Dalzell brings to the Board extensive experience, expertise and background in internet information technology gained from his service as the Chief Information Officer of Amazon.com, Inc. He also brings corporate leadership experience gained from his service in various senior executive roles at Amazon.com, Inc.

Byron Deeter

Byron Deeter, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, leads their global cloud practice and has been involved in cloud computing since 1999. In addition to BVP’s Twilio investment, he has lead Bessmer’s investment in Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD), Criteo (CRTO), Eloqua (ELOQ), Adap.tv (Acq => AOL), Playdom (Acq => Disney), Box, Clearslide, DocuSign, and SendGrid. Prior to joining Bessemer, Byron was a successful entrepreneur, investor, and most recently worked as an executive at IBM after the acquisition of Trigo, where he served as president & CEO.

Elena Donio

Elena Donio is Chief Executive Officer of Axiom. She brings over 20 years of experience in fast-paced technology companies. Prior to joining Axiom as CEO, she served as president of Concur, an SAP company. There she was responsible for setting the vision and executing against the operating plan. She helped lead the company through many transitions, including Concur’s acquisition by SAP in December of 2014. At Concur, she also served in various leadership roles including the head of worldwide sales and marketing, head of product management, executive vice president and general manager of small and medium sized businesses.

Elena is also a member of the Board of Directors at PayScale. Elena earned her BA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego.

Donna Dubinsky

Donna is a serial entrepreneur best known for her work as CEO of Palm Computing and then Handspring, pioneers of the first successful handheld computers and smartphones. Previously, Donna spent 10 years in a multitude of sales, sales support, and logistics functions — both at Apple and at Claris, an Apple software subsidiary. She founded Numenta with her long-time business partner, Jeff Hawkins, in 2005. Numenta has a two-pronged mission — to figure out how the brain works and then apply it to create more powerful machine intelligence.

Donna earned a B.A. from Yale University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She currently serves on the boards of Numenta and Twilio (NYSE: TWLO). Donna also served on the board of Yale University from 2006-2018, including two years as Senior Fellow, and the board of Cortical.io (private technology company in Vienna, Austria).

Jeff Epstein

He has received 15 honorary degrees and numerous awards for business leadership.

Jeff earned a B.A. degree in applied mathematics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. He currently serves on the board for NEA portfolio companies Collective Health, Desktop Metal, and Radiology Partners, and is a member of The American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He and his wife have one daughter.

Erika Rottenberg

Erika began her legal career at Cooley LLP, where she practiced corporate and employment law.

In addition to serving on the Twilio Board, Erika has served since October 2014 on the Board of Nasdaq-listed Wix.com, a cloud-based web development platform. Erika also serves on the boards of directors of Girl Scouts USA and the Silicon Valley Law Foundation.
