Mappings editor improvements is now Generally Available!

These enhancements make creating mappings easier, faster, and more intuitive - empowering you to build data mappings with greater flexibility and efficiency. We've revamped the mappings editor to include the following features:

• 🔍Streamlined search: we’ve consolidated the mappings editor to a single, intuitive search bar, making it easier to find, select, and create event properties

• 💊Copy-and-paste pills: you can now copy-and-paste event property pills directly within the input field, eliminating repetitive manual selections

• ⬇Smart dropdown interaction: clicking a pill in the input field automatically opens the dropdown with the selected pill highlighted, improving usability

• ✅ Static value support: in addition to strings, you can now create static values as boolean, number, or null types, providing greater control over data types in mappings

• 📍Combine event properties with strings: you can create dynamic mappings by combining event properties with static strings for more flexible data structures

For example, you will now be able to:

• Search for properties using a single, unified search bar

• Copy a pill like {{properties.email}} and paste it in the mappings editor

• Combine properties with strings, e.g., User: {{properties.name}} to create custom outputs

• Cclick a pill to instantly access its dropdown options for quick edits

• Define static values like true, 42, or null directly in the mappings, instead of only string values like "true"

Predictions, Segment’s artificial intelligence and machine learning feature that lets you predict the likelihood that users will perform any event tracked in Segment, is now HIPAA Eligible. 

HIPAA Eligible workspaces require a Business Associate Addendum (BAA).

Destination Insert Functions enables Segment's customers to extend their data pipeline using code at egress, before data is processed by destinations.

Use Destination Insert Functions to:

• Implement custom logic to perform enrichment using third-party sources as well as Profile API, which brings additional context to your data before it’s sent to a destination.

• Transform data that’s going out, enabling advanced filtration and computation like sending only those events that meet specific criteria (using nested if-else code) and performing logical and arithmetic computations on it.

• Ensure data compliance by performing tokenization, encryption, or decryption before sending data out.

All users who have functions enabled for their workspace can use Destination Insert Functions. For more information view Segment's Destination Insert Functions docs.

With Generative Audiences, you can use generative AI to create Engage Audiences.

Using natural language prompts, you can describe your desired audience based on events performed, profile traits, or existing audiences in your workspace.

With this general availability release, Twilio Engage event conditions with time windows where the event was performed less than or equal to 20 times will be considered real-time. Previously, event conditions with time windows were treated as batch computations.

Real-time audiences ensure that your audience is always up-to-date with the latest profile data, enabling you to act on the most accurate and recent information. Time windows which make use of the between operator, such as in “select all users that have performed an order completed event at least 1 time between 1 day and 3 days ago”, will continue to be created on Batch.

Journey designers can now configure time criteria to set when users exit a journey and how long until they can re-enter. This helps customers personalize the customer experience at scale to deepen customer relationships.

Engage now supports the editing of real time Audiences and Traits, which allows users to make nuanced changes to existing Traits and Audiences in situations where cloning or building from scratch may not suit their use case.

As part of Engage, Segment creates an Engage Events Source that lets you sync subscription states to connected Destinations.

When a subscription state changes, Segment sends an update to the Destination. As a result, the subscription states stored in your Destination(s) can serve as a single source of truth for managing user consent in other tools that you may have connected to the Destination.

Public API Transformations is available to all workspaces on Business Tier plans with the Protocols add-on.

This feature enables you to programmatically maintain your Transformations on Segment instances.

With Public API Transformations, you can:

• Create transformations that support track, identify and group events

• Perform single event matches

• Rename events and properties.

• Perform CRUD operations for source and destination transformations
